Historical Train Trip to Bergün

Everyone should know the historic Albula train line between Thusis and St. Moritz. Since last weekend, I know at least a very small part of it.

The line, harmoniously embedded in the landscape, is a masterpiece from the time of the railroad pioneers and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. In 1903, the RhB (Rhätische Bahn) opened the spectacular line after only five years of construction. The red train climbs more than 1,000 meters in altitude. On the ride you pass the famous Solis Viaduct, the Landwasser Viaduct, as well as unique spiral tunnels and the Albula tunnel.

From Davos to Filisur we travelled back in time in a historic train of the 1920ies. The historic train is only in operation until 30 October 2022. A great adventure, also for kids. In the beautiful wagons, even the toilet is a highlight and worth a picture! In Wiesen, you pass the famous Wiesner Viaduct (with 88.9m the highest viaduct of RhB).

We combined the trip with a visit of the Albula Railway Museum in Bergün. In the museum, old railroad equipment, films and models inspire visitors. A real highlight is the simulator in the legendary crocodile locomotive, where you can guide the locomotive itself over the Albula line.

The whole journey of the Albula Bernina line definitely offers many more highlights and is to be continued!
