How to slow down with kids

Writer's picture: Nadine ReinfriedNadine Reinfried

Kids are always on the move. Kids are always restless. Kids are usually loud. They rarely slow down. But once or twice a day it is important that children also reduce their speed and get some rest.

Not only our body needs rest from time to time, but also our mind. Wellness for the mind is what I call it.

Here is what we practice every evening:

  • We pick a nice, calming playlist on Spotify (for example deep sleep tones),

  • We take our favourite pillows, blankets and stuffed animals,

  • We lie on the sofa or on the floor,

  • We set the timer to 7 minutes (that’s the time we agreed on),

  • And then we just breathe, try to stay calm and think of nothing at all …

This deep breathing exercise helps children to focus on their mind. Once finished, the kids can hop right into bed, ready for the sweetest dreams.
